Upcoming Dates:
PSAT and DPS Interim Test
Thanks for your support with our recent testing day. We were excited to have over 95% attendance at both the MS and HS. We are currently working on make-up testing for students who were absent. We will report out on scores from those assessments in upcoming newsletters.
Winter Sports Season is Coming
Winter sports season is starting in a few short week with HS boys and girls basketball at the high school level. If your student is interested in participating, they will need to have an updated physical, complete the Family ID, and pay the activity fee. If you have questions, please contact high school activities director Andres Botello.
MS Sports Season 2
Students are participating in co-ed flag football and volleyball. Please reach out to middle school activities director Miguel Gonzalez if you have questions about participating in middle school sports.
Your Voice/Tu Voz
Last year we appreciated all of our Bruce parent feedback from the Your Voice Tu Voz survey! We learned that families were looking for more ways to get involved and feel a part of the Bruce Randolph community so we created events, community meetings and more. We hope to continue improving and we always value your feedback so please make sure to click the link and fill out the DPS Your Voice/Tu Voz Family survey by Nov 1!
MS Dance
We will be hosting our first MS dance of the year on November 1st from 4-6pm. All MS students are invited to attend. Tickets will go on sale the week of October 28th.
Halloween
Students are welcome to dress up for the holiday, but costumes must follow district dress code. This includes that faces must be visible, they cannot glorify or portray violence, drugs, or alcohol. They also should not be disruptive to the learning environment.
Attendance Update
Attendance has been up and down over the last few weeks and our lowest attendance weeks are often those where we have holidays or shortened weeks. It is important that students are at school each day. Even if you call to excuse an absence, this still counts against a student’s attendance percentage. Our goal is that every student is above 90%. If you have extenuating circumstances that are impacting attendance, please reach out so that we can try to support.
OpenCampus Lunch for HS
We closed campus for HS lunch until October 31st due to an increase in tardies after lunch, a drop in overall attendance, and a few issues with following lunch expectations. We will have class meetings on the 31st and hope to reopen campus for students who can demonstrate a commitment to making great decisions.
Student Perception Feedback Survey Update
Students are completing student perception surveys which provides feedback to their teachers as a part of their performance evaluation.
La Raza Report Update
We are excited to share that our school is actively engaging with “La Raza Report”, a comprehensive report which outlines recommendations to improve educational outcomes for our Latine students. This report, developed by the Multicultural Leadership Center, highlights the unique challenges faced by Latine students and offers strategies to support their academic and social-emotional growth. The DPS Latine Student Success team is dedicated to implementing these strategies and fostering an inclusive environment where every learner thrives. At Bruce Randolph, we are committed to ensuring that our Latine students feel supported, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential. We encourage you to learn more about “La Raza Report” and the ongoing efforts to support our Latine community by visiting “La Raza Report” webpage. Thank you for your continued partnership in your child’s education.
Huge shoutout to @colorado_treks for bringing these three awesome horses by Bruce and letting our students spend time with them! We had the best time!🐴🐴
