Free COVID Testing for Students! | ¡Prueba COVID gratis para estudiantes!

Dear Bruce Randolph School Families, 

We have partnered with COVIDCheck Colorado to offer free, fast, and timely COVID-19 testing to all students, and not just those experiencing symptoms. According to the Centers for Disease Control, 40% of people infected with the coronavirus do not have any symptoms. Getting tested regularly is a crucial step in reopening schools safely and continuously. Through our partnership with COVIDCheck, we are implementing a pilot program to administer tests to students attending face-to-face at 16 DPS high schools.

In partnership with COVIDCheck Colorado, we plan to regularly test students via SalivaDirect™. Saliva samples will be collected at our school by DPS health technicians, and then will be transported to a local lab, so we will get results within 48 hours and potentially sooner. The saliva protocol that COVIDCheck Colorado uses is SalivaDirect ™, which is a protocol for doing emergency use PCR tests approved and authorized by the Food and Drug Administration. The Yale School of Public Health created the protocol; The NBA used SalivaDirect ™ in a controlled quarantine environment to administer tests to its players, and the protocol is being extended to other organizations, institutions and populations across the country. Yale studies have shown that the SalivaDirect ™ PCR test is as sensitive as nasal PCR and is not only more convenient for participants, but also more comfortable than a nasal swab.

Each week (May 5, May 12, and May 19) at 7:45 am the DPS nursing staff will administer tests to a segment of our student population (who have chosen to participate in the program). The tests in schools are done through saliva and the results are available in 24-36 hours.

Test results will be sent via email and text to the email address and phone number entered during the registration process.  Those results should arrive within 48 hours.  If your student receives a positive result, you must notify the school immediately and isolate your student.

This testing program will help us do everything we can to keep our school and community safe.

Nos hemos asociado con COVIDCheck Colorado a fin de ofrecer pruebas de COVID-19 gratuitas, rápidas y oportunas a todos los docentes, al personal escolar y a los estudiantes, y no solo a aquellos que estén experimentando algún síntoma. Hacerse pruebas con regularidad es un paso crucial para reabrir las escuelas de forma segura y continua. Mediante nuestra asociación con COVIDCheck, estamos implementando un programa piloto para administrar pruebas a los estudiantes que asisten de forma presencial en 16 escuelas preparatorias de DPS.

En colaboración con COVIDCheck Colorado, vamos evaluar regularmente a los estudiantes a través de SalivaDirect ™. El protocolo a través de la saliva que COVIDCheck Colorado utiliza es SalivaDirect™, que es un protocolo para hacer pruebas PCR de uso de emergencia aprobadas y autorizadas por la Administración de Alimentos y Medicamentos. La Facultad de Salud Pública de Yale creó el protocolo; la NBA usó SalivaDirect™ en un entorno controlado de cuarentena para administrar pruebas a sus jugadores, y el protocolo está extendiéndose a otras organizaciones, instituciones y poblaciones de todo el país. Los estudios de Yale han demostrado que la prueba PCR de SalivaDirect™ es tan sensible como la PCR nasal y no solo es más conveniente para los participantes, sino que también es más cómoda que un hisopo nasal.  

Cada semana (5 de mayo, 12 de mayo, y 19 de mayo) a las 7:45 am el personal de enfermería de DPS administrará pruebas a un segmento de nuestra población estudiantil (que ha optado por participar en el programa). Las pruebas en las escuelas se realizan a través de la saliva y los resultados están disponibles en 24-36 horas. 

Los resultados de la prueba se enviarán por correo electrónico y mensaje de texto a la dirección de correo electrónico y al número de teléfono ingresados durante el proceso de registro. Esos resultados deberían llegar dentro de las 48 horas. Si su estudiante recibe un resultado positivo, debe notificar a la escuela inmediatamente y aislar a su estudiante.

Este programa de pruebas nos ayudará a hacer todo lo posible para mantener la seguridad de nuestra escuela y comunidad.
