HS Boys Soccer: The Grizzlies finished the season last week with a commanding 7-1 win over Nederland. Seniors Angel Palacios, Servando Ortega, Luis Roman, Pedro Carrillo & Joseph Carrillo lead the Grizzlies for the last time on the soccer field. The Grizzlies finished the year with a 5-9-1 record in a very tough conference. Once stats are updated, Sophomore Saul Rivera looks to be one of the top scorers in the state. Coach Carlos was very proud of the team and wished the seniors good luck on their next venture. The coaching staff is super excited about the offseason, as the Grizzlies will have 23 returning players and a stable of very talented young cubs coming up the ranks.
HS Girls’ Volleyball: This will be the last week for the volleyball team as they will host Nederland on Wednesday. We will honor 3 seniors (Alexandra Casillas, Jezabel Medina, & Monica Rubio) and cheer them on in their last game.
MS Flag Football: This week the Grizzly gridiron cubs will host their first game of the season on Thursday vs Florida Pitt Waller, kickoff is set for 4pm. Coach Walker is super excited about the season as this year’s group is very talented and coachable. Helping the Alabama Alum is our very own DI defensive back Zach Lindsey. I can honestly say we have the best MS FF coaching staff in the state.
MS Volleyball: The middle school volleyball team will also open up the season on Thursday as they host Skinner Middle School for a 4pm game. Mr B will now transition from HS to middle School volleyball and build a solid foundation for the Grizzly Cubs.
HS Fall Baseball: This will be the last week of the season for the Coop squad. They will travel on Saturday to take on the Montbello Warriors for a pair of games. Then on Monday, Oct. 30th they will participate in the Halloween game.
HS Boys & Girls Basketball: Will continue their preseason workouts as we are only two weeks away from the start of the season.
Grizzly Roars go out to Coach Carlos, Coach Carrillo, Coach Oscar and our Metro State Intern Coach Raul for working with the Middle & High School Soccer teams. They worked tirelessly to instill good behavior, good grades, the importance of time management, accountability for their actions, had some fun along the way and made great connections with the Grizzlies. I’m truly grateful for the work they’ve done with the Grizzlies and deep down I know you’ve had a positive impact on this group. Even if they did give us a few more gray hairs.
We look forward to the next season – GO Grizzlies!
