Upcoming Dates:
Families, welcome back from break. We are excited for another exciting semester. Please make sure you read this month’s newsletter as there are a number of upcoming events.
ACCESS Testing
We will have ACCESS testing for all students identified as multilingual learners in our buildings. Students will take 3 parts of the exam on Wednesday, January 22nd and be released at 12:30pm. Students will take the final section on Thursday, January 23rd and be released at 10am. District transportation will run early both days, but if you have a student who you pick up, you will need to arrange transportation. It is a priority at Bruce that 100% of students test who are scheduled to test take those exams. Please make sure if your students are testing, they are here both days. If your students are not testing, they will not have school on the 22nd and 23rd.
Conferences
Family conferences for the spring will be on Thursday, February 6th and Tuesday, February 11th. Conferences will run from 4-7:30pm both evenings. We would love to see you at one of those evenings to celebrate your student’s progress.
Attendance
We are beginning to embark on the Bruce v. Manual Attendance Challenge and we want to win! We have work to do to get back to our school goal of 90% or better attendance. Please make sure your student is attending school each day and you are not scheduling family trips during the school calendar.
Students who are absent for 10 or more consecutive days may be dropped from Bruce in accordance with district policy.
Break Reminder
You will have another extended break from February 13th – 18th for students so please plan any travel, appointments, etc during that time. We know that students who are in school each day are more successful and better ready to meet college and career benchmarks. Please reach out if you have questions or concerns.
Rodeo tickets
We have 50 free rodeo tickets for Thursday, January 23rd, at 1:30pm. If you are interested, please email sara_ochoa-lozoya@dpsk12.net to be added to the list of those interested.
Musical Mentors
We will be starting a new musical mentors program during lunch on Tuesday and Thursdays for 6 weeks. MS students that want to sign up can sign up at https://tinyurl.com/MMC-BR-Drumming
SchoolChoice
If you have a student that will be continuing at Bruce, you do not need to fill out the School of Choice Application. If you have students you would like to have join us at Bruce next year, please make sure you are completing Choice Round 1 for your best opportunity to have them join us next school year.
Submit A Senior Baby Photos – Last Chance!
Make sure to submit your senior’s baby photo to Bruce’s 2024-25 yearbook! Submissions officially close January 31. There are six spots available to submit. Click the here to submit!
