Conferences
We enjoyed seeing many families last night for conferences. We will have a second evening for families on Feb. 11, from 4-7:30pm. We’d love to see you to talk about you student’s progress. If you would like to schedule a phone conference or an online conference, please reach out so that was can help get the scheduled.
Interim #2
Our middle school students will have their second round of practice for the CMAS exams on Wednesday, Feb. 12. This is a great opportunity for students to show their growth so far this school year and also to prepare for their CMAS exams in April. Please help your students arrive on time and ready to do their best.
No School
We have three days coming up in which students will not have school. Feb. 14 is a teacher professional development day, so students will not have classes. Feb. 17 is President’s Day and so a federal holiday. Feb. 18 is a conference make-up day so there will be no classes. We look forward to seeing students back on a normal schedule Feb. 19.
MS Sports Sign-up
Boys and girls basketball and e-sports are set to kick off in the next few weeks. If your student is interested in participating in either, they must get signed up by next Thursday. Please reach out to miguel_gonzalez@dpsk12.net if you would like to get your student signed up.
HS Sports Sign-up
Girls soccer and boys baseball will start their spring season on Feb. 23. Please make sure you have your student-athlete signed up with a current physical prior to the first day of practice. Reach out to Mr. Botello at andres_botello@dpsk12.net for support with getting your student signed up to compete.
Attendance
We have dipped below our attendance last year in February and below our school-wide goal. We are at 84% for HS attendance and at 86% for MS. Please help your student make it to school each day on time. In addition, we are currently competing with Manual HS and Manual MS as part of an attendance challenge. Help us earn a breakfast celebration by encouraging your student to be in all of their classes each day.
Possip Surveys
Your voice matters! We need to hear what’s working for you and what you need. This year we will send routine text messages and emails with a few simple questions asking for feedback on your experience. You will receive these messages from Possip, an organization we have partnered with to learn your needs. Thank you!
Hey Grizzlies! Here’s our FIRST Eastside Showdown Attendance Temp Check and these are the attendance percentages we’re seeing:
Manual High School – 79%
Manual Middle School – 66%
Bruce Middle School – 78%
Bruce High School – 66%
Let’s continue to show up on time and be present at school everyday! You might just get some more fun snacks and surprises.
We’re so proud of our middle school volleyball team for having TWO wins in one night last week against DGS and McGlone Academy! Great work Grizzlies!
