Attendance Update
Please make sure you are supporting your students in attending school each day. We saw a dip in January and February in attendance and would like to finish the 3rd quarter strong. Please reach out if we can support in any way.

  • Year to Date Attendance Averages: HS – 84%, MS – 87%
  • This Week’s Attendance Average: Bruce MS – 84% Bruce HS – 83%
                                                                   Manual MS – 84% Manual HS – 80%

Pick-up and Drop-off
Please make sure you are creating a safe environment for students each day during pick-up and drop-off. The parking lot on the west side of the building is only for busses and DPS transportation like connectors, hop, skip, drive, etc. All family pick-up should occur on the east side of campus. Please make sure you are not parking in the fire lane and that you are patient with others as they pick up their students. We are working with the city of Denver to get a crosswalk installed on 40th and in looking at other options for Steele to improve pick-up and drop-off.

Testing & Preparation

  • Students in 9, 10, and 11 grade currently have access to prepare for the PSAT/SAT they will take on April 16. Students who complete at least 16 hours of the course on average grow by 110 points. Please encourage your students to complete the practice exams and modules to give themselves the best opportunity to succeed on the exam.
  • MS students will be practicing for the CMAS exam in classes over the next 4 weeks to ensure they also are fully prepared to show their learning.
  • Students have access to Princeton Review which is free to your student and normally costs $1000.

Possip Polling
Based on responses we’ve received, families primarily identified transportation as a major concern. School leadership is currently exploring options to provide better transportation for students. Another significant reason for students not attending is related to sicknesses. As a quick reminder, DPS students have access to the Denver Health Clinic at Bruce if they have completed their consent form. Thank you for your participation in these surveys, and stay tuned for more updates coming soon.
