Attendance Update
Please make sure you are supporting your students in attending school each day. We saw a dip in January and February in attendance and would like to finish the 3rd quarter strong. Please reach out if we can support in any way.

This Week’s Attendance Averages: Bruce MS – 88% Bruce HS – 85%
Manual MS – 81% Manual HS – 76%

Possip Polling
Based on responses we’ve received, families primarily identified transportation as a major concern. School leadership is currently exploring options to provide better transportation for students. Another significant reason for students not attending is related to sicknesses. As a quick reminder, DPS students have access to the Denver Health Clinic at Bruce if they have completed their consent form. Thank you for your participation in these surveys, and stay tuned for more updates coming soon.

Culture Days Reminder
Culture days are a big part of how we prepare students for career and college success, help them build relationships with their peers and develop social-emotional skills, and provide support to keep students on track in their classes.  With those goals in mind, please make sure you are supporting to get your students to school on those days. Our next Culture Day will be on March 21st with our HS students participating in the road to CSU and grade-level sessions for our MS students.

DPS Policies
As spring returns, a quick reminder regarding DPS policy.  Students cannot bring any toys that might look like weapons or items that could be considered weapons onto DPS campuses.  This includes water guns, orbeez guns, toy knives, mace/pepper spray containers, etc.  Please make sure you remind your student of those expectations.

Coffee with the Principal
Mark your calendar. Our next coffee with the principal will be March 20th at 9am.  CSC that evening will take place at 5:00pm.  We’d love to have you join either event.

CMAS Practice Opportunities
We recently completed our second round of Interim testing to help prepare MS students for the CMAS exams in April.  At the MS level, teachers will be implementing practice opportunities.  In grades 9-11, students are working on Princeton Review to grow their skills prior to the PSAT/SAT.  Students are working on this in some classes, some students are attending a lunch bunch to work.  Students who complete 16 hours will receive free lunch from the principal.  Encourage your student to utilize this tool that normally would cost $1000 as completing 16 hours has been shown to help students grow by an average 110 points.

Connect for Success at Bruce
We will be hosting a Connect for Success site visit in April.  This visit is part of a $180,000 grant that Bruce has been awarded to help improve achievement.  As part of that, we will be sending home consent forms for some students so that they can take part in student panels and surveys to gather information about ways we can improve.  We will also be asking you to complete an anonymous family survey and potentially participate in a family panel.  We will keep you posted, but we are excited for the opportunity to continue to improve the work that is happening at Bruce.

Coffee and Malasadas PAC Meeting

Hey Bruce! Come to the PAC meeting on March 20th to learn more about your student getting University credit for Spanish.
