HS Girls Basketball: Will host two games this week. On Tuesday, Sheridan will make a stop at the Den to take on the Grizzlies and on Thursday Pinnacle Charter School dares to challenge the Grizzlies. Both games will start at 5:30pm. .
HS Boys Basketball: Coach Huff & Coach Bonner have been working hard with the boys team. Despite dwindling numbers due to injuries and playing some of the best teams in 4A, this has not deterred the team as they are starting to play some of the best basketball up to this point. The Grizzlies will be the nightcap game for the Lady Grizzlies on Tuesday & Thursday. Both games will start at 7pm.
HS Boys Baseball: Will continue preseason workouts on Monday & Friday @ Cobalt Indoor Facility from 3:45-5:15pm.Coach Washington and Coach Dowdell will also have study hall every Thursday from 3:30-4:30pm.
HS Girls Soccer: Will officially start pre season workouts every Monday and Wednesday from 3:45-5:15pm. Weather looks to be in the 50’s range, so our girls will be outside.
MS Boys & Girls Basketball: The Grizzly Cubs will travel to Howell on Wednesday. The boys team will play at 4pm, followed by the girls team. Both teams are getting better and learning the game.
Grizzly Roars go out to Andre Burrent who was the leading scorer last week against the #5th ranked DSST Montview Knights. Despite battling against players who ranged in size from 6’4″ – 6’6″, Andre showed the Bruce value of Effort and despite the odds stepped up to the challenge. Not bad for a kid who is in his second year of ever playing basketball. On the girls side of things, Safiro Perez, continues to excel in the classroom maintaining a 3.5 GPA in her classes this semester and all the while being an important piece of the girls basketball team. Safiro is definitely showing the Bruce value of Brilliance as a student-athlete.
Quick reminders:
*East Rugby will use the field on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 6-8pm. As time goes on we hope to branch off and create the Grizzly Rugby Team.
*I will also be working with Diaz Concrete on Saturday to paint the batting cage poles, fix the right field gate, tighten the cables and clean up the batting cage.
*DPS Transportation – my direct contact in transportation has decided to move on, so I’m working with the new hire to help support Bruce with transportation. I hope to make some progress.
*We had some fireworks at our last home game. I’m going to work with our game management team to see how we can make things better for our fans and our players. As the great Ted Lasso says, ” There’s two buttons I never like to hit: that’s panic and snooze.”
