Important Upcoming Dates:
Message from Principal Olson
As we enter the final month, please help your student finish the year strong. Attendance each day is incredibly important to ensure they are developing their skills and receiving the credits they need. Students who do not pass all classes, may be required to attend summer school.
Mark your calendar for our Senior Graduation and 8th Grade Continuation Events coming up!
Graduation is on May 29th at 2pm at the National Western Complex. All Bruce students and families are welcome to attend to celebrate the Class of 2025. We will celebrate the class of 2029 as they finish middle school on June 2 at 5pm in the Bruce gymnasium with dinner after so that we can celebrate together.
CMAS + PSAT/SAT – Thank You!
Thank you for your support in helping us reach our goals for testing. We had over 95% of students complete CMAS and PSAT/SAT. We look forward to seeing the results this summer.
CSC Meeting | 5/15
We are planning for the upcoming school year. Our next CSC meeting will take place on May 15th and we will look at the root causes of Bruce data in order to make sure we are working to implement solutions that will support student growth.
Policy Reminders
As the weather gets warmer, a few housekeeping things we would ask you to discuss with your student. First, please remind students they cannot be any water guns, orbeez guns, etc to school. Second, our policy is that students should not ride e-bikes or scooters on school property. If your student uses one of those options, please remind them to walk those items once they arrive on campus and then again until they leave campus.
Possip Feedback – Thank You!
Thank you for those of you would continue to fill out the Possip surveys. They are helping us plan as we look at our last month and for next year. We want to make sure you know that Bruce Culture Days are carefully planned to support students and we would like to have your student present for each of these days.
Parent Volunteer Support
Calling all volunteers! We are looking for parent volunteers as we get closer to the end of the year and as we launch for next year. If you are interested in helping as a crossing guard, chaperoning field trips, helping out on field day or any other volunteer opportunities. Please reach out to our Family and Community Liason, Miriam Lara – miriam_lara@dpsk12.net so that we can try and match your interest to our needs.
Your Voice/Tu Voz Participation
We had about 65% of Grizzlies fill out the district Tu Voz survey in March. Overall, we are very excited about the results as we grew from the previous two years on whether students feel safe at school, that students feel welcome and like they belong at Bruce, and that students feel like their culture and language ar valued at Bruce.
We have remained steady on whether students feel engaged at Bruce and this is still our lowest category. We will discuss as we plan for next year how we can help our students love to learn and look for opportunities for more students to be involved in extra-curricular activities. We will continue to strive to grow how students feel about attending Bruce in order to create the best possible middle school and/or high school experience.
